Construction commenced of the Ruma-Šabac highway and expressway from Šabac to Loznica
The President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić announced today at the opening of the preparatory works for the construction of the Ruma-Šabac-Loznica highway, that the highway and expressway will be of the highest quality and that they will be completed on time.
President Vučić said that he was particularly proud that in one day they signed a contract for the construction of the Morava Corridor and opened the preparatory works for the construction of the Ruma-Šabac-Loznica highway.
"I am proud of Serbia. This tells us how much Serbia is changing, how much we are progressing, how much we have managed to change ourselves, how much we believe in our own capabilities, how much we know that we can and how much we have managed to regulate the public finances. We have chosen the path holding roads, growth and development, a more beautiful and better, more orderly and decent Serbia. We connect all parts of Serbia, which means more investors because everybody wants to come when they have roads," said President Vučić.
President Vučić congratulated the people of Srem, Mačva, Ruma, Šabac and Loznica, and all the people of Serbia, and said that our country with the Morava Corridor and the Srem-Mačva Corridor will look completely different.
"Closer to everyone else, it will be easier to go to Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, it will be easier to go to Gučevo, it will be easier to go to Ljubovija, Mali Zvornik, Bajina Bašta and all other places later on. We do not intend to stop here and we strive to continue to build," concluded President Vučić.
The commencement of the works was also attended by Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović, representatives of the Azvirt company and Ambassador of Azerbaijan.
The new road will connect Srem and Mačva districts and solve the long-standing problems of the local residents, as well as the demands of the economy of this region. When completed, it will be possible to reach twice as fast from Podrinje to Belgrade.
A commercial agreement was signed with the Azerbaijan company Azvirt in mid-November, an investment worth EUR 467 million.
