President Vučić attends groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the "Toyo Tires" factory
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Japanese company "Toyo Tires" factory and pointed out that this is an investment of great importance, and that the company will be one of the largest exporters from Serbia.
"Exports of Toyo Tires will be at the level of 240 million euros, and it will be one of the most important and most powerful exporters from the territory of Serbia," said President Vučić, adding that these are enormous incentives for the development of the Serbian economy, but more importantly - following this investment, we expect the arrival of new Japanese companies.
"This is such a valuable and important thing for Serbia! It is an investment of 382 million euros, the largest Japanese investment so far in our country. About 560 workers will work here, and this brings new technology, a new approach and a great victory for Serbia! In the middle of the third wave, when it is the hardest, we manage to lay the foundation stone for the "Toyo Tires" company, and I congratulate to all the people in Serbia! This is the first "Toyo Tires" factory in all of Europe! I am proud that such a factory will be in Serbia, the factory of a renowned Japanese manufacturer, with a powerful and large investment because that is what will stay after us", said President Vučić.
He thanked everyone in Japan who worked on it, as well as everyone in our country who, in the fierce competition, managed to obtain a big and powerful company.
"It is not a question of one or two meetings; we started negotiations in May 2017. Talks and negotiations lasted for three and a half years to bring one giant to Serbia, to have such an important investment for Inđija, Vojvodina and the whole of Serbia," President Vučić said and told the citizens of Inđija that "their future is guaranteed" with this factory.
Toyo Tires Corporation General Manager Takashi Shimizu said construction of the factory would be completed by April 2022.
"We carefully searched for the location, the competition was powerful, and we found the perfect environment in Serbia," said Shimizu, emphasising that the factory in Inđija will supply markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America.
Shimizu said that the factory in Serbia would use the state of the art technology and produce the highest quality products at the most competitive prices, and all in an energy-efficient way.
