President Vučić attends the 42nd International Belgrade Tourism Fair
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić attended today the 42nd International Belgrade Tourism Fair, thus marking the start of the EU Cultural Heritage and Tourism project with the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Sem Fabrici, and the Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dorothea Gieselmann.
President Vučić emphasised that without the help of the European Union, Serbia would not be able to invest in tourism development and preservation of cultural heritage in the eastern part of Serbia. He said that in Serbia, there is often a reason to criticize the EU, but in this case, we owe a great deal of gratitude to the EU for all they have done.
"The east of Serbia will look different when these projects are implemented," said President Vučić, addressing the launch of the EU's Cultural Heritage and Tourism project, under which the EU and the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany invested 16.5 million euros in various projects in the east of Serbia.
"These 16.5 million euros is a large amount of money. It will not change everything. However, despite all the successes we have achieved in economic policy, it would be hard for us to allocate so much money for these projects," said President Vučić. He added that the EU is investing smartly in strategic development and tourism potentials, but also in an in-depth and diverse manner so that Serbia can attract different categories of people to visit the east of our country.
"East Serbia and the Danube region are the pearls of our country, which we have not fully utilised to this day," said President Vučić, noting that with the help of the EU the Golubac Fortress was rebuilt. He also said that when the projects are completed, Kladovo, Negotin, Zaječar and other parts of eastern Serbia will look completely different.
President Vučić emphasised that thanks to such projects, we can discover all the beauties of our country and see for ourselves what we can do for Serbia. He explained that due to these investments, hospitality in Eastern Serbia would flourish.
"I ask people to hear well what we want to do with this money. We still have much work to do and attract people from all over the world. This is an incredible opportunity to offer them something better and something more. We will do our best to add more assets to this money, to repair the infrastructure towards eastern Serbia, the fast road to that part of the country," said President Vučić and thanked the European Union for its support. He expressed hope that European partners will continue to invest in eastern Serbia, as well as in other parts of our country.
