Congratulation letter to the President of the United States
At the reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States of America, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić conveyed to the US Ambassador to Serbia Anthony Godfrey a congratulations letter addressed to the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, which reads as follows:
„I congratulate you the Independence Day - that is more than a holiday for the United States of America because it is a symbol of patriotism of the American people, as well as of its way of life.
This day is important for all US citizens, but also for all those who share with them everlasting values of freedom and equality written in the Declaration of Independence 244 years ago. History of your country is like you said: „It is the epic tale of a great nation whose people have risked everything for what they know is right and what they know is true”.
That is why it gives me an honour that Serbia was on the same side with the US in difficult historical moments, on the side of truth and justice.
In the previous period, we celebrated important common anniversaries and bright examples of our alliance, and now again, in times of unprecedented challenge, we stood by each other in a fight for health.
Allow me to extend my gratitude for the help that the US provided Serbia in fighting coronavirus, as well as my belief that the great American nation will overpower this big challenge and continue even more resolutely on the path of progress and wellbeing, in order to achieve its plans for the future in accordance with the common vision of peaceful mankind.
I am encouraged by the fact that you pay attention to the developments in today’s Balkans, by supporting peace and stability in the region. Serbia wants to bring back the relations with the US to the level of true partnership, and that is why I hope that we will have the opportunity to host you in Serbia, to remember together those things that connect us and to get to know better the nation that gave Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, Serbian-born American citizens, who indebted the entire world.
Please accept your Excellency my sincere felicitation for your national holiday, cordial regards and the assurances of my highest consideration“, reads the congratulation of President Vučić.
