Congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Qurban Bayram)
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić congratulated Kurban Bayram to Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community of Serbia, Sead ef. Nasufović and the President of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Serbia, Mufti Dr Mevlud ef. Dudić as well as to the members of the Islamic community. The congratulation reads as follows:
"I sincerely congratulate you, religious servants and all believers of the Islamic religion on Eid al-Adha in sincere faith that this great holiday will bring you all the good, peace, prosperity to your families and hope for good times that will come following the great temptations we all face.
I wish you, above all, good health, for which we all fight in these difficult times. The trouble is common, but we can overcome it like we did every other so far - with mutual understanding, respect, care for our neighbours and a firm belief that we will defeat this one together.
The symbolism of the Qurban sacrifice is the symbolism of forgiveness, helping, converging with brothers and neighbours, getting closer to each other. This is a holiday that celebrates generosity, compassion for the destitute, as well as the solidarity we all need, perhaps more than ever before.
This holiday is a true reflection of the uniqueness of the human race, common ancestors and heritage, as well as a reminder and testimony that we are all brothers and that one of the most important goals of each person is to live in a spirit of tolerance, helping, spreading goodwill among people and providing charity to the ones in need, which we must never forget.
I wish you to spend the holiday in peace and joy, that in the spirit of Eid al-Adha and with sincere prayers, you always welcome good news and all the good and progress in the home we all share, in our Serbia.
