Letter from the President of the People's Republic of China

"Dear Mr President, 

 

The COVID-19 virus epidemic has hit Serbia. Allow me, on behalf of the Government of China, the Chinese people, as well as on my behalf, to convey to you and the friendly Government of Serbia and its people a sincere sympathy accompanied by wishes to the diseased to recover quickly and that the epidemic is kept under control. 

 

The strategic partnership between China and Serbia is comprehensive. The steel friendship between the two countries and the two nations becomes even stronger as time goes on. Mr President, you, your Government and the people have provided substantial support to the Chinese side as the Chinese people have struggled amid the epidemic, and I thank you very much for that. Lately, the epidemic outbreak has stricken in multiple places from multiple sources, and many countries are at increased risk of controlling and preventing the spread of COVID-19. You and your Government have taken a series of active measures against the epidemic, indicating your responsibility and commitment. The Chinese side strongly supports the Serbian side's efforts to combat this virus and will provide your country with material aid, including protective supplies and medical equipment. We will also provide support in procuring necessary goods in China. 

 

We will also send a team of medical experts to Serbia to assist you in analyzing the situation and to share our experience in controlling and preventing the spread of the virus and treating the diseased, aimed at increasing the effect of the epidemic suppression in Serbia to protect the health and well-being of the people. 

 

I am convinced that, under your strong leadership, Serbia will surely overcome the difficulties and defeat this epidemic fast. I attach great importance to the development of relations between China and Serbia. I believe that our traditional friendship, which is best manifested in trying times, will be rooted in the hearts of the people as they fight the epidemic together, and our overall strategic partnership deepened and raised to an even higher level", reads the letter of the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
