Meeting with representatives of the National Council of the Roma National Minority
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the representatives of the National Council of the Roma National Minority (Roma National Council) and congratulated the World Roma Day and the 50th anniversary of the first International Romani Congress.
The delegation of the Roma National Council acquainted President Vučić with the activities carried out by this Council in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as with local self-governments throughout Serbia.
During the meeting, President Vučić pointed out the importance of preserving the Roma language and culture, as well as the inclusion of unemployed Roma in retraining programmes. In this regard, the President stressed the importance of quality education for young people, especially within the dual education program.
President Vučić emphasised that he would provide full support to the Council in the implementation of the census so that as many members of the Roma national minority as possible would respond to the invitation for the census registration.
