Meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China
The President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Chen Bo, who conveyed to him a letter from President Xi Jinping. The letter reads:
„Dear Mr President,
I thank you for your letter. China and Serbia are good friends who hold on to mutual trust and support. Mr President, you and the Government of Serbia are committed to the One China principle, which I highly appreciate. I pay great attention to the development of relations between China and Serbia. I am ready to elevate, together with you, a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia to an even higher level. I wish you all the best," reads the letter of Presiden Xi.
President Vučić thanked for the letter and said that he and everyone in Serbia, with strong compassion but also great admiration, keep following the struggle of President Xi, the Chinese leadership and the friendly people of China with the epidemic of coronavirus. "China's unprecedented efforts to prevent the virus from spreading remain to be deeply respected. We are convinced that China will be able to cope with this challenge and that it will come out of it even stronger," said President Vučić.
On behalf of the citizens of Serbia and his own behalf, President Vučić expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as solidarity with the Chinese people and the readiness of our country to send assistance in accordance with its capacities.
Ambassador Chen said that President Xi and the Chinese people greatly appreciate the message of encouragement sent by President Vučić. She said the effects of the measures taken by the Chinese leadership to combat the disease are already evident.
President Vučić and Ambassador Chen also discussed the implementation of concrete joint projects pertaining to the cooperation between the two countries.
President Vučić said that he was ready to visit China at all times and support the Chinese leadership and people and that he was particularly looking forward to his forthcoming visit to China and the new meeting with President Xi at the Ninth Summit of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe to be held in Beijing.
