Meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation

On this occasion, President Vučić confirmed he would attend the Victory Parade, proud of the fact that the Serbian and Russian people, committed to the tradition of freedom, stood on the same side of equity and justice in the Second World War. "It is a great honour to attend the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism. We won freedom in the Second World War with the help of the Red Army, and Serbia rejects the attempts of history revision. We will strive to maintain the truth," said President Vučić. 

 

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said that President Putin chose 24th June as on that day in 1945 a historical parade of winners was held on the Red Square headed by Marshals Zhukov and Rokossovsky, since the traditional parade on 9th May had to be postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

 

President Vučić conveyed his condolences for the victims of the coronavirus in Russia and thanked again for the human and state solidarity, which President Putin showed by providing us with medical assistance.

 

President Vučić and Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko, expecting the soon arrival of a high-ranking Russian official in Belgrade, discussed bilateral relations between Serbia and Russia, as well as the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
