Meeting with the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the European Union Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Janez Kopač, to discuss the implementation of reforms in the field of energy and the separation of activities in "Srbijagas".
President Vučić noted that Serbia is chairing the Energy Community this year and that Serbia's priority remains the energy transition to clean energy sources, as well as the transformation of state-owned energy companies.
The two interlocutors agreed that the unbundling of Srbijagas' activities is in line with the obligations under the Law on Ratification of the Treaty establishing the Energy Community, and that, in this regard, it is necessary to adjust strategies and take meaningful and effective steps.
The European Union Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Janez Kopač, expressed his expectation that Serbia will accept the initiative of the Secretariat of the Energy Community on the introduction of a carbon tax.
