Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, to discuss strengthening good neighbourly relations between the two countries, through, among other things, resolving all issues through dialogue, improving economic cooperation and mutual support.
President Vučić mentioned specific projects that would contribute to better connection and economic cooperation between the two countries, such as modernising the railway to Skopje and developing the infrastructure at the border crossings.
President Vučić said that good relations between Serbia and Northern Macedonia are of the utmost importance for the entire region. He pointed out the "mini Schengen" as an example of successful cooperation for the benefit of the citizens and the benefit of the countries' economic development actively involved in that initiative. President Vučić singled out the importance of the Memorandum signed by Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania, which enables mutual assistance and cooperation of their respective health systems for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.
Minister Osmani thanked for the donation of vaccines, which President Vučić handed over to Prime Minister Zaev on Sunday, and which enabled the vaccination of North Macedonia's citizens to begin and which, as he said, awakened new hope.
President Vučić also said that Serbia supports the European integration of North Macedonia.
The two interlocutors also discussed the improvement of Serbs' position in North Macedonia and Macedonians in Serbia.
