Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, and expressed gratitude that Slovakia persists in its principled position of respecting Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty by not recognising Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence.
President Vučić stated with satisfaction that the political dialogue between the two countries and economic and cooperation in all other areas of common interest are continually developing. He also thanked Slovakia for supporting and concretely helping Serbia's European path through technical assistance.
President Vučić informed the guest from Bratislava about the situation in the region and welcomed the engagement of the Slovak diplomat Lajčák as the EU Special Representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština and other regional issues in the Western Balkans. On this occasion, President Vučić reiterated that Serbia is committed to maintaining stability in the Western Balkans and continuing to pursue a policy of peace and cooperation in the region.
The hope was expressed at the meeting that Serbia and Slovakia and the whole world will succeed with solidarity and joint efforts in coping with the challenges and consequences of the pandemic to dedicate to economic development. President Vučić thanked Minister Korčok for the donation of medical equipment for the fight against COVID-19.
The two interlocutors also discussed possible new investments and joint projects.
President Vučić and Minister Korčok agreed that Slovaks living in Serbia represent a unique link between the two countries, whose position, according to President Vučić, Serbia will continue to improve.
