Meeting with the OSCE Secretary General
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier today with the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger to discuss the process of reforms, the situation in the region and the strategic priorities of Serbia.
President Vučić emphasised that the OSCE represents an important regional security organisation which provides opportunities for the joint tackling of numerous existing and new security challenges. „We are very pleased with the cooperation we have with the OSCE Mission in Serbia and we consider the expert support rendered by this organisation to our institutions as very important. We appreciate the support of the Mission in the process of the Media Strategy creation", said President Vučić and commended the cooperation that our institutions maintain with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and Metohija.
President Vučić highly appraised the cooperation with the OSCE and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in the field of improvement of the electoral process. Aimed at monitoring of the implementation of recommendations and improvement of the electoral process, the Government of Serbia passed a decision in August this year on establishment of a Working Group for cooperation with the OSCE and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
Secretary General Greminger said that the OSCE aspires to support Serbia and the consolidation of the democratic institutions, improvement of the electoral system and strengthening of media freedoms.
During the meeting, the interlocutors agreed that Serbia actively contributes to the stability and security, that it promotes the regional cooperation and that it is strongly committed to the principles of multilateralism and implementation of the OSCE guidelines.
