Meeting with the regional Director for South-East Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić talked earlier today with Susanne Schütz, Director for South-East Europe, Turkey and EFTA States in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In the talks about the regional situation, President Vučić said that Serbia seeks the solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija for the sake of own stability as well as because of the peace in the Western Balkans, but that Priština - through the introduction of taxes on Serbian goods and by other unilateral and provocative acts detached the dialogue from its essence. He indicated the last example of media manipulation with the alleged poisoning of the Albanian members of the electoral commission in Kosovo and Metohija and added that he will insist on an investigation to establish, as he said "whether Serbia used anthrax or novichok or else the whole world will have to admit that the Albanian leaders lied again".

President Vučić expressed his satisfaction because the relations between Serbia and Germany - thanks to the regular and open political dialogue - have advanced during the last several years to reach the highest level in history which remains to be of utmost importance for Serbia due to the reputation and influence of Germany in the European and global politics.

President Vučić emphasised that for this reason as well, the economic cooperation is gaining strong momentum and that the Serbian economy development largely rests on German investments and sound business operation of German companies which employ approximately 60.000 workers in Serbia. He expressed hope that their good experience will contribute to even higher interest in investing in our country.

Schütz iterated the support to the policy of peace and cooperation in the Western Balkans which her country also provides through the Berlin process and especially through the Regional Youth Cooperation Office established at the initiative of President Vučić. She also pointed out that Germany will always support Serbia on its European path with the expectation that Serbia will finalise all the necessary reforms in the areas of importance for European integrations.
