President Vučić meets the Ambassador of the Russian Federation
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić received earlier today the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko. The President and the Ambassador discussed the bilateral relations and the regional situation.
President Vučić said that he upholds the real compromise in the solution of the Kosovo and Metohija problem, but that he does not expect a soon continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština considering the taxes on goods from Central Serbia and the situation on the Priština political scene. Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija is of vital importance for the stability of the region and added that Russia – as a permanent member of the UN Security Council – remains ready to contribute to the solution within the international law framework.
Kharchenko agreed that the Serbian-Russian relations are on the rise in accordance with the mutual disposition and that signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and the Eurasian Union which is expected on the 25th of October will provide a new quality to the future cooperation as it facilitates free movement of goods, services and labour force as well as the access of Serbia to the market of about 180 million consumers.
