President Vučić meets the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier today with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Serge Brammertz to discuss the upcoming Prosecutor's report for the UN Security Council, ongoing proceedings against the citizens of Serbia before the IRMCT, work results of the Office of the Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal for former Yugoslavia as well as the assistance in development of institutions and transfer of knowledge to the Serbian judiciary bodies.
President Vučić emphasised that cooperation of Serbia with the Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals is good and that Serbia will continue to strengthen this cooperation with the IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor despite disagreements regarding certain issues.
President Vučić thanked for the proposal of the Chief Prosecutor Brammertz for the relevant institutions in Serbia to take part in the joint programmes where the IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor would render its assistance in the application of the War Crimes Strategy through training and other forms of support.
The IRMCT Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz expressed his dissatisfaction with the regional cooperation and deplored the tardiness in submission of the documentation required for the pending proceedings before the Mechanism.
