President Vučić meets the Head of the Belgrade Office of the Council of Europe Tobias Flessenkemper
In the talk with the Head of the Belgrade Office of the Council of Europe Tobias Flessenkemper, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that Serbia appreciates very much the good cooperation with the Council of Europe and that it will continue to fulfil its obligations assumed in 2003 by the membership in the organisation, which marks the 70th anniversary of its foundation this year.
President Vučić emphasised that Serbia counts on the assistance of the Council of Europe in implementation of reforms considering that this organisation - through its own programmes and the various programmes in cooperation with the European Union - can help in the reform of the judicial system, the public administration system reform and fight against crime and corruption, as well as the improvement of protection of the national and other minorities' rights and the media freedoms. He also pointed out the good cooperation with the Council of Europe Development Bank and the valuable role of the Venice Commission as the advisory body.
The Head of the Council of Europe Office Flessenkemper said that he acknowledges the efforts of Serbia in implementation of reforms. He encouraged the Serbian authorities to utilise more of the advisory capacities of the Council of Europe in the reform process and in the improvement of the work of the Parliament.
President Vučić thanked for the principled position of the Council of Europe in the preservation of the status-neutral treatment of so-called Kosovo in that organisation.
