President Vučić meets the Holy See's Secretary of State
President of the Republic of Serbia, during his official visit to the Holy See, met today with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy See's Secretary of State.
During the meeting, the two interlocutors discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, protection and improvement of the human rights of Christians and Christian cultural heritage as well as the promotion of intercultural dialogue and multilateral framework cooperation.
President Vučić pointed out that the relations between Serbia and the Holy See were remarkably improved by the two-day visit of His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin to Serbia in June this year on the occasion of the opening of the new head office of the International Bishops' Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
President Vučić emphasised that Serbia deeply admires the personal engagement of His Holiness Pope Francis in the fundamental international issues. „We highly appreciate the strong contribution His Holiness provides in the sphere of the global peace promotion, peaceful solution of conflicts and human rights protection as well as to the promotion of equal economic and social development in line with respect for human dignity and protection of the most imperilled ones", added President Vučić.
President Vučić said that the Government of Serbia each year allocates funds from the budget aimed at improvement of cooperation with the Roman Catholic Church and other churches and religious communities. In agreement with the bishoprics, the funds are further directed on to the projects of renewal and construction of churches and church objects, projects of preservation of the religious, cultural and national identity as well as for the improvement of the medium and high technological education.
