President Vučić meets the Prime Minister of the Republic of Greece
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier this evening in New York with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss bilateral relations, the situation in the region and the European path of Serbia.
The President congratulated the Prime Minister Mitsotakis the electoral victory and expressed hope that he will manage to implement the ambitious agenda he laid ahead of his Government. President Vučić asked Prime Minister Mitsotakis that Greece retains the unchanged position regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo and underlined that it was of crucial importance for Serbia.
President Vučić emphasised that Serbian and Greek people are tied by sincere friendship and added it is necessary to work on strengthening of economic cooperation. He thanked Greece for the support it renders to Serbia on its European path as well as for the support to the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština. He informed Prime Minister Mitsotakis about the problems that arose after the decision of Priština to introduce taxes for import of goods from Serbia.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis iterated that Greece supports the dialogue, but that unilateral moves do not contribute to it, and that Greece will not alter its position with respect to the recognition of the self-declared state of Kosovo.
