Telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić talked on the phone today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borisov.
Ahead of tomorrow`s video conference meeting of the High Cooperation Council of Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece dedicated to tackling the economic consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic, President Vučić and Prime Minister Borisov agreed that mutual arrangement to ease the border crossing procedure remains one of the key elements to incite business activities, especially in the field of tourism after a long pause due to coronavirus. In this regard, the two interlocutors particularly insisted on the need to ensure the implementation of appropriate anti-epidemiological measures to ensure the protection of the health of citizens and prevent the further spread of the infectious disease.
President Vučić and Prime Minister Borisov expressed satisfaction that Serbia and Bulgaria are successfully fighting the coronavirus and that the epidemic is being kept under control, with the hope that it will soon be completely subdued.
President Vučić and Prime Minister Borisov agreed on a soon bilateral meeting, especially looking forward to visiting the works on the construction of the highway from the Serbian border with Bulgaria to Sofia, the completion of which will ultimately connect our country with Asia. At the same time, the two officials stressed the importance of building the Balkan Stream gas pipeline and the gas interconnector for energy connections between Serbia and Bulgaria.
President Vučić and Prime Minister Borisov also expressed hope that circumstances would soon allow the good practice of quarterly meetings of the leaders of the High Cooperation Council of Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece to continue talks on joint infrastructure and energy projects, as well as other forms of cooperation.
