Telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić talked on the phone today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borisov.
The two interlocutors stated that completing the Balkan Stream gas pipeline construction and commissioning represents an exceptional success of the two friendly and fraternal states. They particularly emphasised that this is a significant accomplishment because the works were successfully completed during the coronavirus pandemic.
At the same time, Prime Minister Borisov announced President Vučić the important news for Serbia and its citizens - that the first section of the highway from Sofia to the border with Serbia has just been completed. The entire section from Dragoman to Sofia will be built by the end of 2021, which means that Serbia will thus become one of the most important countries on the transit route between Western Europe and Istanbul.
Also, President Vučić and Prime Minister Borisov discussed further improvement of economic cooperation and various regional issues. One of those issues is the construction of a gas interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria. The two countries would immediately start building, which will contribute to even greater stability and energy security in the region following the construction of the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece.
President Vučić congratulated Bulgaria's citizens on the New Year and wished them to continue on the path of progress. He also thanked Prime Minister Borisov for his sincere friendship and full commitment to developing close neighbourly relations between Serbia and Bulgaria.
